In Grammar we will be learning about complete subjects and complete verbs. Students will also be introduced to predicate adjectives in other texts. Knowing the complete predicate of a sentence will help children to determine where to look for a predicate adjective. We will also learn about contractions as a verb, as well as Irregular verbs and verb phrases!!!

In Phonics we will be learning about vowel pairs, digraphs and dipthongs. A vowel pair is two vowels that come together to make one long vowel sound, the first vowel stands for the long sound and the second vowel is silent (ex: boat, train)  A vowel digraph are two letters together that stand for one vowel sound. It can be short or long, or have a special sound of its own. (ex: book, ready, August) A diphthong consists of two letters blended together to make one vowel sound (ex:oy=boy; ow=owl, ew=stew)
